Backed by BaltCap, Workland is Becoming a Startup Land

Workland, a leading co-working space with several locations across the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), has become a magnet to many startups and support organizations such as eAgronom, Binalyze, Votemo, Adact, Estonian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EstVCA), Estonian Business Angels Network (EstBAN), SmartCap, and Startup Estonia.

Last year, Estonia-born Workland acquired two UMA co-working spaces in Tallinn and Vilnius, strengthening its position in the Baltic market. It now has more than 1,600 workstations, and is adding another 750—along with three new centers, since the pandemic has upended people’s views about work and life.

At first, it was a challenge for employers to get used to the idea of allowing employees to work from home. But when COVID hit in March 2020 and many people were forced to stay home, businesses realized that their staffs could be productive even if they weren’t in the same building. Now it seems no one wants to return to “the good old days.”

Tech companies are developing new office models that they hope will increase creativity and staff efficiency. Google, Apple, and Microsoft have adopted a 3-days-in-office policy, whereas Dropbox is reimagining office experience with Dropbox Studios, and Salesforce is going out of the box with Trailblazer Ranch.


One thread that connects all these models is an emphasis on creating a sense of community. Co-working spaces are ideal for fostering workplace camaraderie. Their community nature makes them a great place to network and offers opportunities to learn from like-minded people.
